I’m turning 65 but will still be working, do I need to sign up for Medicare?
I have heard if I don’t, I will get a penalty. If you have credible health insurance through your employer past 65 you may not need to enroll in Medicare Part B until that coverage ends. Check with your employer's HR department. Some may require enrollment in Medicare. If you have credible cover past 65 most likely you should not get a penalty. It may be different for federal employees.
I have VA coverage; do I need to enroll in Medicare?
At this point, VA coverage is not considered credible coverage. If you don’t enroll in Medicare Part B and do so later, you will most likely have to pay a penalty. There may be plans available in your area that may help reduce the cost of Part B.
I’m new to Medicare. When I enroll in a plan can I change it later?
Yes, you can change your Medicare Advantage Plan during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period from October 15th to December 7th (AEP) or during the Medicare Open Enrollment Period (OEP) from January 1st to March 31st each year. You can change your prescription drug plan (PDP) during AEP. To enroll in a Medicare Supplement policy 6 months or later after getting Medicare, you will generally need to pass underwriting.
Can I still see my doctor once I’m on Medicare?
Most likely yes. As an agent, I will confirm your doctors are covered before I enroll you in a plan.
I need dental, vision, or hearing aid cover; does Medicare cover those things?
Original Medicare and Supplements do not at this time. Most Medicare Advantage plans do have some coverage for dental, vision, and hearing aids.
I don’t know if I have enough money to pay for Medicare or my medications. Is there any help for me?
Yes, you may qualify for Medicaid or a program known as Extra Help. These programs can help reduce your Medical and or Medication costs. If you get qualified for extra help or Medicaid, contact me to discuss special plans designed for your circumstances. I am certified to work with these plans.
